(AP Statistics)

Statistics is a full year mathematics course. The purpose of this course is to introduce students to the major concepts and tools for collecting, analyzing, and drawing conclusions from data. Students will learn proper techniques for collecting data and designing experiments. They will learn to describe patterns and create models to describe patterns and analyze deviations from those patterns. Students will explore random occurrences and use probability and simulations to predict outcomes of those occurrences. Students will also learn to infer population parameters from a sample of data. A strong emphasis will be placed on communicating and supporting predictions and calculations.
